A summary is a rather simple process of interpreting the entire text. Providing the reader with the background of the text by simply describing what happened and to whom, where it happened and how it happened. Most summaries include no surprises, just highlights of each key point in the story. A summary can help a reader gather only the minimum details of a story.
On the other hand, an analysis is ones interpretation of a particular text. Thinking analytically by critically evaluating the text offering an argument as to why several different components in the story may relate. An analysis may help the reader understand the meaning beneath the obvious meaning of the text. An analytical view of a text can help the reader view the text from a separate perspective.
